It was Bay Area “Black Star Power” at its best Friday April 27th at Hubb/Too Short’s birthday party and comedy show. The event was held at theTreasure Island EventCenter, conveniently located between bothOakland andSan Francisco. I arrived promptly at eight o’clock to meet up with my boy Jack Ray. Shout out to Jack for handling all of the accommodations and getting me into the building in an expeditious manner. Good looking out on the VIP treatment Jack! Upon my arrival, I immediately ran into Darnell Thomas the publisher of Millionaires Magazine. Both Jack and Darnell was dressed in their gentlemen’s best, first class attire, appropriately complimenting the atmosphere of the evening. Y’all be on the look out for Millionaire Magazine publication too. There is a release date tentatively scheduled for 05/31/2012.

Moving right along as I entered into the establishment the first thing that caught my attention was the size of the building. Very spacious with multiple bars, stages, a photo shoot area along with a nice sized dance floor. All the players in the building was suited and booted and the females was fly and fashionable. I chose to rock out with the white blazer, jeans, button up collared shirt and Fieso shoes. A look straight out of my “Please Hammer don’t hurt em!” collection. HA! However, enough about me, getting back to the subject at hand. After walking around for a bit, Jack looked out for me once again and introduced me to Hubb, the man of the hour himself. Hubb graciously took a moment out of his schedule to greet me, before getting back to hosting the rest of his guest. Good looking out Hubb, I appreciate everything. The D.J. (D.J. Marcus) was on point spinning the latest and greatest with a couple of classic throwbacks mixed in.

Guest was also treated to a comedy show that featured the talents of the very funny Insane Wayne, who entertained the crowd with a nice 30 minute set. He thoroughly warmed up the crowd for headliner Melanie Cormacho. Melanie lit it up without disappointment! Both comedians gave a good show and kept the party moving with punch line after punch line. Last but not least, the God Father of Bay Area rap, Too Short hit the stage shortly after 12:00AM. Short rolled through a catalog of classic material, along with his newer hits to the satisfaction of the crowd. Short rocked out a good 30 minute set before making his outroduction for the evening. There was also other Bay Area Bosses in the building like Vidal from the Delinquents and Mr. Fab just to name a few. I also gotta give a shout out to up and coming R&B singer Nicole Van Hook and her producer ITC. They were in the building partying it up with everybody else. To sum it up the evening was a great look! Good looking out to Hubb and Short for putting together another memorable event. Y’all be sure to get your tickets for the next one. This is your boy B. Mims and i’ll catch you on the next go-around.
